Dr Ulrike Kachel

Ulrike Erika Kachel is a Lecturer in Business in the Asia Pacific College of Business and Law at Charles Darwin University, Darwin, Australia. Her teaching focusses on sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation, which is informed by her own entrepreneurial background and extensive interdisciplinary research and teaching experiences.
Ulrike has strong industry backgrounds in information technology (IT) and tourism, including online marketing and platform development, events management, and working in dive tourism in the Caribbean.
Her research focusses on sustainability, agency theory, and decision-making in the field of tourism, events, as well as higher education research. Recent research projects evolved around ethical considerations of animals in tourism and the UN Sustainable Development Goals in tourism, events, and higher education.
Ulrike holds degrees as a Graduate Engineer (Dipl.-Ing.) in Systems Analysis (Bremerhaven, Germany), Masters in Ecotourism (JCU, Australia), PhD in Tourism Management (Griffith, Australia), and a Graduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (CDU, Australia); she has extensive teaching experiences and taught in the UK and Australia.
